The housing market is forever fluctuating.  At one point, my husband and I found ourselves in the midst of a sellers’ market and discovered the improvements we had made to our home, as well as it’s location, could potentially yield a decent profit. It was a difficult decision for me to list our home for sale because we had poured our heart and energy into fixing it up over the years, and we had created wonderful memories with friends and family there. However, I felt God nudging me into a new direction warning me to not be so attached to material things.

Shortly after, we found a lovely home in the country and a buyer for our home. Our offer on the new home was accepted without any counter and due to multiple offers on our home, we accepted an offer for more than our original asking price. Everything had happened so effortlessly!

And then suddenly, things with both houses got complicated. From the inspections to the appraisals, it felt like we were being faced with bad news and tough decisions to make almost daily. The toughest decision we had to make during this process came when the deal on the house we were supposed to move into, fell through just two days before the sale of our home. Our realtor, our lender, our family and friends all responded with sympathy for our situation and watched to see how the next chapter played out. What did my husband and I do?

We found hope in Psalm 37:5-6

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.

Life Application~

We did what we always do when we’re seeking wisdom, guidance and encouragement. We read the Bible and then prayed.  When we opened our Bible, we found ourselves staring right at Psalm 37:5-6. Reading that scripture we were reminded that we serve a Big God who is BIGGER than our problems. In the moment, we prayed for peace to think clearly and God’s wisdom for us to act wisely. I then proclaimed out loud, “We 100% trust YOU God to provide us the right home at the right time. We want only what YOU want for us and nothing more!”

And GOD DELIVERED! Two weeks later, we moved into a beautiful new home in a better location that met our family’s needs even better! ONLY GOD could turn this stressful situation into an opportunity for us (and others) to witness what happens when we commit our situation to God, and trust His outcome is truly for our good.

Prayer~

Heavenly Father, thank you for reminders in scripture to reassure me that every trial I work through with you is maturing my faith and is an opportunity to share hope with others. You are a sovereign God who works all things together for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
