Perfect Timing

When is the last time something important (like a job promotion, the return of a prodigal child, healing from an illness, meeting your spouse) came when you wanted or expected it? If you’re like most of the population, your answer is NEVER!

It can be frustrating praying and waiting, praying more and waiting more for the answers, the solution, the thing or the person we are praying for in the first place! It’s this cycle of waiting, and not receiving when we expect or hope, that often tempts us to doubt God and abandon our faith.

We can find hope in Psalm 27:14~

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!

Life Application~

In this Psalm, David is putting his trust in God by waiting  patiently for Him to deliver David from his enemies. The good news is that when we read ahead, we learn that David’s prayers were EVENTUALLY answered in God’s perfect timing. Unfortunately, we are not privy to God’s schedule, but like David, we can take heart knowing with confidence that God is working behind the scenes on our behalf; and we can trust his timing will be perfect.

Prayer~

Heavenly Father, thank you for hearing my prayers and working behind the scenes on my behalf. Help me to have the same patience and trust in you that David did. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
