It can be exhausting watching someone you love make poor choices over and over again. The more time and energy you invest into helping this person, the more frustration and mental fatigue you experience when he/she continues down the path you are certain will lead to destruction. We may feel like we’ve tried EVERYTHING and yet NOTHING seems to change. When we find ourselves at the fork in the road, not knowing which direction to turn, that’s when Jesus finds us.
We can find hope in Matthew 11:28 ~
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Life Application~
Jesus watched in frustration as those whom he loved refused to make better choices in spite of his warnings. He grew weary by the number of people who refused to believe His words regardless of the compassion he demonstrated, or the miracles he performed. He knows firsthand how frustrating and exhausting it is for us to watch loved ones turn away from faith only to move toward destructive decisions. That’s why he extends this invitation to all of us. It’s an invitation to shut down our brain when we don’t have the answers, and just hand over our burdens to Jesus so we can rest. And while we rest, the God of mercy will renew our spirit with hope. Prayer does matter, and love does prevail.
Prayer~
Heavenly Father, I come to you on my knees, exhausted and uncertain as to which direction to turn. I need your help, and I’m grateful to you for taking my burden when it’s too heavy for me to carry. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
