You Are Enough

If you listen closely during personal interviews with people who have experienced great success in their lives, whether it be in business, entertainment, sports or otherwise, they all have something in common; at one time or another, they felt they weren’t good enough. It’s mind boggling to consider how someone deemed as famous or as an expert in their field by others, could ever feel inadequate.

Feelings of inadequacy can creep into our thoughts uninvited and steal both our joy and our confidence. All it takes is one rejection, and we can go from feeling like a somebody to a total nobody. Our mind may be consumed by thoughts like we’re not talented enough, not attractive enough, or not strong enough. We may convince ourselves we can’t possibly succeed because we don’t have the right expertise or enough of the right connections.

We can find hope in 1 Samuel 16:7~

“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Life Application~

Looking to replace Saul, the King of Israel, God sent Samuel to annoint one of Jesse’s sons for the job. Jesse presented all his sons to Samuel to chose from except one; he overlooked his youngest son David who was tending the sheep. Why? Based on David’s age, size and job status he wasn’t good enough for the job. To others David was a nobody, but God chose him because he had the heart of a king.

Our past and present world is filled with examples of how God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Luckily, God doesn’t judge us by what others think of us or what we think about ourselves. Like David, others may overlook our potential, or we may falsely believe we are not good enough, but God sees our heart and our true potential. There are no limits to what he can accomplish through us.

Prayer~

Heavenly Father, thank you for seeing my true limitless potential.  Help me to see myself through your eyes and to believe I am more than good enough to accomplish your will with You by my side. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
